#3691 735 MULFORD & BIDDLE Dark aqua.
Produced for Mulford & Biddle, who advertised in the middle 1860’s as a manufacturer of black and galvanized telegraph wire. Apparently, for a period of time, they also supplied other telegraph related material.
Examples of the 735 embossed Mulford & Biddle have been found primarily in the West, mostly in California, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana and to the north in British Columbia, Canada.
The color is quite dark, having a rich teal tone. The well saturated, dark coloration is amplified with extra thick dome glass, and contrasts quite nicely with the typical medium and lighter aqua examples.
Shallow, fingernail base chip, otherwise wonderful condition. Especially nice for this type threadless!
