#3697 735 U.P.R.R. MULFORD & BIDDLE. Bright turquoise aqua.
Produced for Mulford & Biddle for use along America's first transcontinental railroad, which was completed in May 1869.
A wonderful example with exceptional glass brightness and clarity! Not a typical aqua.... rather, there's a slight tint to the glass that makes it special. Additionally, the very thick dome glass amplifies the sparkling qualities to a great degree, making it a special jewel!
An over-poured glass "fin" protruding from the inside edge of the base creates a lean to the right, creating desirable character.
Shallow, pinkie nail flake on the base and a couple other smaller, insignificant flakes. Pinkie nail open bubble on the base has some surface bruising on the inside base edge. Entire outer area in spectacular condition. Overall a wonderful beauty... and oh, the glass is so rich... and has wonderful clarity.
