#220 735 U.P.R.R. MULFORD & BIDDLE. Aqua.
The 735 threadless insulators with “U.P.R.R.” embossing were produced for use on the historic, first transcontinental railroad line in America, completed in 1869. They were placed in service through Wyoming and into Utah, all the way to Promontory, where the rails of the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific met in May 1869.
Shallow base chip (to the far right in 1st photo). Clean, shallow chip on the skirt side, the size of a fingerprint (see 2nd photo).
From the collection of the late Lawrence Carpenter.
