Description

#222     728.4     W. BROOKFIELD    55 FULTON ST. N.Y.      CAUVET'S PAT JULY 25 1865.     Aqua.

Dome embossing on both mold halves.  Most of the embossing is medium strength, with just a little that is hard to distinguish in reflecting light.

These have been found at various locations, including Texas and New Mexico, where they were used on government built lines.

This example has extra nice character with the sides of the skirt being deformed and indented.  Looks like it's trying to be a 731!

No chips and only one thin, match head base flake!  A little surface wear in part of the wire groove.  Appears to be gently tumble cleaned. Two dark areas in dome are small, completely enclosed bubbles.

From the collection of the late John Ayer.
