#234 CD 158.2 BOSTON BOTTLE WORKS. PATENTED OCT 15 72 Aqua. Four segmented threads. Embossed in a circular fashion around the top of the dome.
Known as the "Boston Barrel." The hex dome and four segmented threads are unique characteristics found on insulators produced by Boson Bottle Works. Samuel Oakman, who was associated with the company in the 1870's, is known for many creative inventions and features on various insulators from the 1860's through the 1890's.
The dome embossed examples are scarcer than those with embossing on the inner skirt. Like most, the embossing is evident, but weakened.
One fingernail chip on the lower wire ridge (near the mold line in second photo), otherwise excellent.
