#1505 CD 267 N.E.G.M. CO. “PATENTED JUNE 17 1890” Aqua with streaks.
Subtle olive-amber streaks are visible in the in the aqua glass of this large and very impressive power glass insulator which towers an imposing 5-1/4” tall!
Various sections of Boston’s transit system (MBTA) were constructed over a period of years, resulting in different large styles of insulators being installed. This was one of many different types placed in service.
Saddle groove is quite clean, lacking the conductor wear and abrasion found on some insulators used by the MBTA. The only damage is a hard to see bruise emanating from the outer base corner, positioned from left of the "N" to the "G."
A large, impressive hunk of glass!
