#2119 735 TILLOTSON & CO. 16 BROADWAY N.Y. Yellow green.
Manufactured for Tillotson & Company, a large 1860's railway and telegraph supply house in New York City, then supplied to the mid-1860's Collins Overland Telegraph project in British Columbia, Canada.
Various green shades/tones have been observed in 735 Tillotson insulators. This particular coloration with yellowish toning is quite rare. A very desirable example for anyone attempting to assemble a color run of these attractive hat style, threadless insulators.
Embossing was painted white by a previous owner, which could be easily removed if so desired.
Shallow chip on lower part of front wire ridge is only half pinkie nail size. A glass "fin" was formed around the base perimeter when excess glass squeezed between the mold pieces during manufacture. A flat base chip was formed when a portion of the fin was removed (see right side of first photo). Photos are bit dark, but accurate for color toning.
